Paterno Legacy
Jay Paterno, son of legendary Penn State football coach Joe Paterno, will be at the Deane Center in Wellsboro on Thursday, November 6th, 2014, at 7pm for an author event, sponsored by From My Shelf Books & Gifts. Paterno will be speaking about and signing his recent book, Paterno Legacy: Enduring Lessons from the Life and Death of My Father. Though the book deals mostly with his father Joe's career and legacy, son Jay's perspective is not one of a son who admired from the sidelines: Jay himself was a Penn State football coach for 17 seasons, 12 of which he served as the quarterback coach. Furthermore, this book stands out from many sports memoirs and biographies in that it is not “ghost-written”. Jay Paterno has a lot of experience in sports writing, with his pieces regularly appearing in numerous publications, and often cited on ESPN and quoted by Sports Illustrated.
The event in Wellsboro will include a talk with a question-and-answer period, followed by a book signing. Books may be purchased in advance at From My Shelf, at 25 Main Street, Wellsboro, for a 20% discount off the normal cover price of $26.95. Purchase of the book at From My Shelf entitles the buyer to free entry to the event at the Deane Center, with receipt. Books will also be available at the event on November 6th, while supplies last. Without book and receipt from From My Shelf, entrance to the event is $5.00 for adults, and $3.00 for students and seniors. “Students” includes all children 18 and under, and college students with official ID. “Seniors” are 65 and older, with ID. Tickets purchased at the event can be returned to From My Shelf for a 20% discount of a book in the bookstore, to be used before December 25, 2014. For more information, call From My Shelf at 570-724-5793, or stop in the bookstore during business hours. The bookstore is open 7 days a week.
