Who is Krampus?

About Krampus

Who is a Krampus? Krampus is a creature from Germanic myth. His name comes from the German word "krampen" which means "claw."

He is described as being half-goat and half-man and hairy all over. He wears a chain and carries a bundle of birch sticks to hit naughty children.

He arrives before Santa Claus on a night all his own. He shows up on Krampus Night, or Krampusnacht. Children leave their shoes out, and if they find a gift, they have been good, but if they find a birch rod, they've been naughty.

Some say Krampus is misunderstood and that he works alongside Santa to ensure good prevails. Some tales says he drags naughty children away, never to be seen again. Is Krampus real? Become a reading ninja and decide for yourself.
