50 Things to See with a Small Telescope

People love this book! Revised in 2015, 50 Things to See with a Small Telescope highlights the must-see objects observed at stargazing events all over the Northern Hemisphere. People of all ages frequently ask, "How did you find that so quickly?" Well, this book will explain just that! The planets in our solar system, the International Space Station, sunspots, birds, nebula, airplanes, and comets are just some of the items that his book will help you find! If you have been having difficulties enjoying your small telescope, this book is for you. There is something interesting about pretty much everything in outer space and it is exciting how many pop-culture references are derived from things in the night sky! Viewing the stars referenced in Star Trek, or talking about a character in Harry Potter named after a constellation, is just another way to make stargazing that much more fun! I am very excited to share my knowledge of astronomy and I am sure you will enjoy this book for years to come. By working through the 50 items in this book you will achieve a well-rounded understanding of amateur astronomy.

Operation Ragnarok

We are all just killing time, until time eventually kills us. We go through life knowing death is waiting, but not knowing what comes next. I don't have to wonder anymore, because I died.

The sages say, a journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step. Mine started with just a single click. This is an epic tale full of danger, adventure, friends, and a wolf the size of a bull moose, and it all started on my living room couch.

Operation Ragnarok is a fantastical adventure with comedic elements about a group of gamers going through a mid-life crisis, instead of the little red corvette, they decide to steal a Viking longship from a museum. It's a story of friendship, sacrifice, and unleashing Hel on Earth...

What I want for Christmas...

I'm a writer. One of the great things about being a writer is that no one can stop you. You just have to write. It doesn't, however, mean you will be a successful writer.

I'm a successful writer, as many enjoy my writing, and that makes me happy as a writer, but I'm not very successful financially. For Christmas, I'd like to change that, and you can help.

You might not read my genre of writing, but it is Christmas, and if one of my books would be appropriate for someone on your list, I would very much appreciate that you consider one of my titles. Even if you don't buy a book, you can share this post, and help me tap into the power of the Internet to get the word out on my words.

My books are sold wherever books are sold. You can get autographed and personalized copies at From My Shelf Books & Gifts in Wellsboro either in person or on the website.

I'm not famous or even that well known outside of my little town. My autograph might not make a big difference to you. So, you can order them at your local bookstore. They probably don't stock them, as there is just so many books and just so much room. You can also get them online as well. All the major places to buy books online stock them if you have a gift certificate to your favorite website.

I have a children's series called The Totally Ninja Raccoons that children are enjoying. It's most for second to fourth grade, depending on reading level, though I have younger and older readers.

I also have a picture book great for children up to five years old, and those we love cats. It's my first book and about how my cat Hobo came to live with me. It did go out of print, but I was able to bring it back.

I've also written an adult novella called Operation Ragnarok. It's a fast-paced book about a group of Dungeon & Dragon players who are going through a mid-life crisis and decide to "pilfer" a Viking longboat from a museum, and they unleash the end of the world.

People who enjoy Norse Myths, role-playing games, and popular culture will love it. It's been called the Big Bang Theory on steroids. It's a fun read.

What I'd like for Christmas is to get more of my books out there. Give one of them a try. I think you'll love them, or share this post around and help a writer out.

Thanks!

The Totally Ninja Raccoons Meet Bigfoot ( Totally Ninja Raccoons #01 )

In The Totally Ninja Raccoons meet Bigfoot, our protagonists discover they are not meant to be ordinary bandits, but rather carry the potential to be something extraordinary, ninjas.

In this origin story, the Ninja Raccoons begin their ninja training, and meet their first potential employer--Gypsy the Cat. Gypsy sends the Raccoons on their first mission, to capture the elusive Bigfoot.

Things aren't what they seem to be. Bigfoot isn't the monstrous beast, as he's been portrayed. Gypsy isn't the benign employer. Cats want to take over the world.

The Totally Ninja Raccoons learn that sometimes you have to choose your own path if you want to choose your destination.

'Twas the night before Christmas aboard the Black Sark,
Not a creature was stirrin', not even a shark

Come aboard, young mateys, for a humorous, colorful, and thoroughly piratical retelling of "The Night Before Christmas " On a ship of mischievous brigands who have visions of treasure chests, not sugar plums, dancing in their heads you wouldn't expect a visit from jolly St. Nick. Instead, here comes Sir Peggedy, with his peg leg and hook arm, cracking his whip and driving eight giant seahorses: Salty, Scurvy, Sinbad, Mollie, Cutthroat, Cross-Eyes, Roger, and Jolly. Moore's Christmas perennial into a jubilant celebration.

Krampus: The Yule Lord

Santa Claus, my dear old friend, you are a thief, a traitor, a slanderer, a murderer, a liar, but worst of all you are a mockery of everything for which I stood. You have sung your last ho, ho, ho, for I am coming for your head. . . . I am coming to take back what is mine, to take back Yuletide . . .

The author and artist of The Child Thief returns with a modern fabulist tale of Krampus, the Lord of Yule and the dark enemy of Santa Claus

One Christmas Eve in a small hollow in Boone County, West Virginia, struggling songwriter Jesse Walker witnesses a strange spectacle: seven devilish figures chasing a man in a red suit toward a sleigh and eight reindeer. When the reindeer leap skyward, taking the sleigh, devil men, and Santa into the clouds, screams follow. Moments later, a large sack plummets back to earth, a magical sack that thrusts the down-on-his-luck singer into the clutches of the terrifying Yule Lord, Krampus. But the lines between good and evil become blurred as Jesse's new master reveals many dark secrets about the cherry-cheeked Santa Claus, including how half a millennium ago the jolly old saint imprisoned Krampus and usurped his magic.

Now Santa's time is running short, for the Yule Lord is determined to have his retribution and reclaim Yuletide. If Jesse can survive this ancient feud, he might have the chance to redeem himself in his family's eyes, to save his own broken dreams . . . and to help bring the magic of Yule to the impoverished fold of Boone County.

Once Upon a Time...

Once upon a time both Kevin and Kasey left their small, home town of Wellsboro. As fate would have it, they each moved back to Wellsboro and met while doing a local play festival. When Kevin and Kasey started dating, they found out they had both been selling books part-time. Joining inventories, they sold books from their tiny apartment, before taking the leap into retail, giving Tioga County the first bookstore of its kind, with new and used books, across a wide spectrum of genres and prices.

Specifically written to address children's fear of being apart from the ones they love, The Invisible String delivers a particularly compelling message in today's uncertain times that though we may be separated from the ones we care for, whether through anger, or distance or even death, love is the unending connection that binds us all, and, by extension, ultimately binds every person on the planet to everyone else. What's A Krampus?

About Krampus

What is a Krampus? Krampus is a creature from Germanic myth. His name comes from the German word "krampen" which means "claw."

He is described as being half-goat and half-man and hairy all over. He wears a chain and carries a bundle of birch sticks to hit naughty children.

He arrives before Santa Claus on a night all his own. He shows up on Krampus Night, or Krampusnacht. Children leave their shoes out, and if they find a gift, they have been good, but if they find a birch rod, they've been naughty.

Some say Krampus is misunderstood and that he works alongside Santa to ensure good prevails. Some tales says he drags naughty children away, never to be seen again. Is Krampus real? Become a reading ninja and decide for yourself.

Totally Ninja...

I'm a writer. So, of course I have cats. I'm not saying you can't be a writer if you have a dog, but I'm pretty sure the stipulation is that you have to be an outdoor writer. I love the little, furry predators, but cats want to take over the world.

Most humans suspect that cats want to rule the world. What? You didn't know that? If you have a furry feline in your life, you know they are planning on world domination...right after their nap.

Yes, cats are planning world domination. There's even an international organization known as the Cat Board that is planning right now as you are reading this. Lucky for humans, cats are a little lazy.

Gypsy, head of the Cat Board, Giving a Power Point on The Totally Ninja Raccoons

Gypsy, head of the Cat Board, hires the Totally Ninja Raccoons to track the elusive Bigfoot. She's after Bigfoot's powers of invisibility and stealth in her quest to rule the world, but she double crosses the raccoons and doesn't pay them, and thus the rivalry between Gypsy and the Totally Ninja Raccoons is born.

There Are Currently Five Books in the Totally Ninja Raccoon Series

The Totally Ninja Raccoon series is great for the reluctant reader from second to fourth grade, though there are younger and older readers. My nieces are just entering kindergarten and love the books as bedtime stories. Grandmothers love buying them for their grandchildren that live outside of Tioga County.

The Totally Ninja Raccoon series is set right here in Wellsboro Pennsylvania, and is specifically geared towards reluctant readers. It's your classic trio with a twist. Think the "Three Investigators meet the "Teenage Ninja Mutant Turtles" with a little "Ghost Busters" in the mix. What started as an idea to score free food soon ends up giving the raccoons a glimpse into another world, a world of shadows, mysteries, and plots.

What started as an idea to score free food soon ends up giving the raccoons a glimpse into another world, a world of shadows, mysteries, and plots.

There are things in heaven and earth than the raccoons ever dreamed. Cats are trying to take over the world. Monsters are real, and Chinese food really will make you hungry soon after you eat it. It's up to The Totally Ninja Raccoons to stop it.

The Totally Ninja Raccoons Are:

Rascal: He's the shortest brother and loves doughnuts. He's great with his paws and makes really cool gadgets. He's a little goofy and loves both his brothers, even when they pick on him, but maybe not right then.

Bandit: He's the oldest brother. He's tall and lean. He's super smart and loves to read. He leads the Totally Ninja Raccoons, but he couldn't do it by himself.

Wow, A Bookstore!

"What a cute, little bookstore. My local bookstore closed." a tourist.

I hear this too often during my work day in the bookstore. How can we stop bookstores from closing? We can shop at them! This holiday season, I encourage you to shop in your local, independent bookstore, and this year I'm going to show you how to support two bookstores with the same purchase.

I own a bookstore with my wife, and I'm a writer. Writers love bookstores and several authors that are much better known than me, now own bookstores. There's a reason for it. Writers know bookstores are important to their communities.

I've been a writer since fifth grade, but I didn't become an author until I worked in a bookstore. My first book was a children's book called Hobo Finds a Home. I was always a dog person, and the picture book grew out of the story I told my nephews of how Hobo came to live with me.

Recently, I was able to bring Hobo Finds a Home back into print. It's great for children and cat lovers of all ages. This is a special edition memorializing Hobo, as he's used up all nine of his earthly lives.

The book is just $7.99, but you can save 20% off by going to the From My Shelf Books website. , or this is the part where you can support two bookstores.

If your favorite, local bookstore, doesn't currently have Hobo Finds a Home, they can order it for you. That's right, you can support From My Shelf Books and your local bookstore by walking in, and ordering this book. Just tell them Hobo sent you

Hobo Finds A Home is Back in Print!

My first children's book, Hobo Finds a Home, is back in print! I wrote Hobo Finds a Home with the help of Hobo the Cat back in 2008. It did really well locally, and was picked up by a small press. The small press went out of business and I was able to bring back into print.

The classic Hobo is back better than ever with a crisper cover and text, and updated biographical information about Hobo. There have been new developments in the printing industry since 2008, and I was able to bring the price of Hobo Finds a Home down to just 7.99.

Hobo Finds a Home is available wherever books are sold, but if you want a personalized, autographed version, you can visit From My Shelf Books & Gifts, or visit wellsborobookstore.com

In this true story, written by Hobo the cat, a little kitten leaves the farm, has big adventures, makes a new friend and finds a forever home. Hobo was the bookstore cat at From My Shelf Books & Gifts for many years. His many jobs included playing with children, delighting cat lovers, and soaking up sunshine to spread to everyone he met. This is his story...
