James Patterson plans of bonuses for booksellers

Readers love James Patterson, and bookstores love James Patterson. James Patterson has a long and well-deserved reputation of giving back to schools, libraries, and bookstores. This year, the best-selling author told the American Bookseller Association that he will distribute $250,000 in bonuses to employees at independent bookstores.

The bonus gifts will range from $1,000 to $5,000 and are based on nominations submitted by customers, authors and members of the publishing community. Applications can be filled out and sent in starting November 1st. Patterson will chose the winners in December.

The nomination form can be found on bookweb.org/bonus, the website of the American Booksellers Association. From My Shelf Books and Gifts have several employees that would be happy to be nominated. Kris Dickenson, Rowan Reist, Kevin Coolidge, Kasey Coolidge, and even Huck & Finn, the bookstore cats.
