Where's Waldo?

Where's Waldo? He’s around Wellsboro, Pennsylvania, of course.

From My Shelf Books & Gifts is once again partnering with a nationwide celebration of the Shop Local movement with the help of the iconic children’s book character, Waldo.

This year marks the thirtieth anniversary of the "Where's Waldo?" books. Martin Handford's collections of crowd scenes swept the world in the late 1980s, and since then have held a cherished spot on bookstore shelves the world over.

Waldo lends his longevity and popularity to 25 businesses in our local community this July, to highlight these locally-owned businesses and all that our area has to offer! The search for Waldo goes on for the entire month of July and culminates in the Waldopolooza Party on July 31, when prizes will be awarded. Prizes include something from every participating business, as well as Waldo books and swag from Candlewick Press, Waldo's American publisher.

Beginning in Wellsboro on Saturday, July 1, Waldo-lovers of all ages, from youngsters to grandparents, are invited to begin the hunt to find the elusive character hidden around dozens of businesses in our area. Anyone who wishes to participate can pick up a Find Waldo passport at From My Shelf to begin collecting a store stamp or signature for each Waldo they spot. There is no charge to participate in this family-friendly activity! For every store signature a searcher obtains, their name goes on one ticket in the prize jar.

Confirmed businesses at this time include: Cafe 1905 and the Children’s Department, both in Dunham’s Department Store at 45 Main Street; C.S. Sports, 81 Main Street; Fifth Season, 100 Main Street; Farmer’s Daughters, 11719 U.S. Route 6; Fox's Pizza and Terry's Hoagies, 7 Charleston Street; From My Shelf Books & Gifts, 7 East Ave; Garrison's Men's Shop, 89 Main Street; Gmeiner Art and Cultural Center, 134 Main Street; Grubby's Games, 16 Pearl Street; Highland Chocolates, 11724 U.S. Route 6; In My Shoes, 85 Main Street; the Native Bagel, 1 Central Avenue; Needles Quilt Shop, 75 Main Street; Peggy’s Candies & Gifts, 82 Main Street; Red Rose Antique Mall, 17 N Main St in MANSFIELD; Shabby Rue, 69 Main Street; Scoops Munchies & More, 2 Buena Vista Street; Shady Grove Natural Market, 144 Tioga Street; This N' That Thrift Store, 34 Fellows Ave; Tioga Office Products, 96 East Ave; Tony's Italian Cuisine, 3 Main Street; Wellsboro House Restaurant & Brewery, 34 Charleston Street; and Wild Asaph Outfitters, 71 Main Street.
