Hikes in High Places: Transforming Hikes Atlantic/Pacific

A hiking guidebook with literary substance, exploring the connections between mountains and coastline, deserts and forests, on hikes throughout the United States and British Columbia. Its topics are many and varied, ranging from viewing wildlife to hunting gemstones and photographing wildflowers, and the settings are all high places, whether mountain passes, foothills, summits or bluffs. It is illustrated with a pencil sketch drawn from a photo of a native American pictograph and black-and-white photos. The chapters offer a great deal of information on native Americans, and the hikes strive for the immersion in nature that the tribes knew.
